Northeast: a cultural giant

I have no doubt when I say that Brazil is one of the richest countries in culture in the world, and it is a fact, not just because I love my country but Brazil is the land of samba, bossa nova, maracatu, batucada and other rhythms that brighten our lives. Furthermore it is a country with many traditions and coexists very well with diversity. We like and know how to make peace and live with peace...maybe because everything is carnival here, hahahha!

We have since the field workers with their traditions in the southern pampas, with their dances and typical foodstrongly influenced by European immigrants, to the samba that has its roots in Africa.

 Gaúchos in the south

Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, and what talk about the Festival de Parintins in Amazonas, where two  bulls fight for the love of a beautiful princess for three days!

But when we have a break in the northeast we can find a giant in the culture. The Northeast was able to create unique rhythms and fantastic stories, as O Grande Sertão Veredas (book considered one of the best in the world literature), where the "cangaceiro" a figure from Northeast, who was born to defend their land falls in love with another man and suffering throughout his lives without knowing that the other man was actually a woman dressed as a man for survive in a land full of misery...

In addition, the northeast is the land of "frevo" and the festival where the dolls dance carnival, in Olinda, Pernanbuco.

Fidel likes the carnival in Olinda!

Olinda is also the land of one of the greatest composers and musicians from Brazil, Alceu Valencia!
The interesting thing is that all the musicians are great composers maybe because the Northeast in the past was a very poor place and the music was the way how to the northeast people use for to fight against e hunger and sadness caused by extreme poverty. And they survived! Cheers to culture and music!
